About the event

Lameness can often be caused by chronically occurring compensation patterns that over time lead to a final breakdown – often presenting as an obvious injury or severe pain that requires serious intervention.

The good news is, we can help prevent a horse from reaching their breaking point by learning subtle signs to look out for!

From From Kissing Spine, Thoracic Sling Dysfunction, Sacroiliac Pain, Nerve Impingement and Undesirable behaviours - Betsy can help you find the possible root cause and what you, as an owner, can do about it!

Betsy Vonda is an Equine Postural & Performance Consultant from Ontario, CA with a focus on prehab, rehab, as well as training horses for longevity and soundness while improving athletic performance.

Clinic Outline: Friday May 27 6:00pm – participants will enjoy a detailed lecture & theory session that will cover key anatomy, lifestyle factors that can effect behaviour and performance, as well as an a introduction to the Balanced Through Movement Method (TM) followed by a Q&A.

Saturday or Sunday 8:30 AM Start –Each participant will have one 90 minute session (approximately) with Betsy where she will begin by taking a history on your horse and learning what your goals are, or areas you wish to improve on . Betsy will observe your horse’s posture at rest, and in hand/in motion. She will go over her observations with you and then work with your horse to help them release compensation patterns. She will help them increase their correct muscle activation and balance through movement while helping you improve your connection & communication as a team.

Changes are often notable by the end of the session, with further progress expected as you complete your given homework. Follow up virtual consultations are available from Betsy if desired.

Each horse/owner will have one session with Betsy, but you are welcomed and encouraged to attend both days. Friday’s lecture is a requirement in order to participate in a 1-1 session and maximize your results.

Who should attend? Any horse, from the recreational trail rider to the performance athlete, is a candidate for this clinic. Betsy helps owners get to the root cause of undesirable behaviours in their horse and difficulties while handling/under saddle as well. She can help with common concerns such as separation anxiety, unbalanced/“crooked” travelling, heavy on the forehand, not feeling engaged in the hind end and many other problems.

About the Clinician: Betsy has been a clinician since 2009. She had competed in multiple performance disciplines since the age of 5, and is a three-time Quarter Horse Congress Champion in Pole Bending. Most recently Betsy has continued her rehabilitation education by entering into an apprenticeship under Celeste Leilani Lazaris, biomechanical lameness specialist, expert in equine movement and muscle development, and creator of the Balanced Through Movement Method (TM).

You can find her on Facebook & Instagram by searching “Balanced with Betsy” and here at her website: https://balancedwithbetsy.com/about/
